Reflections
The 2002 quilt was meant to create a history of the early years of Samoyed dogs in the United States from the 1930's to the 1960's. The central medallion was made up of nine photographs printed on fabric of the most famous of these early great dogs most of whom are ancestors of dogs competing today. This central medallion was surrounded by applique depictions of the activities in which most Samoyeds compete: conformation, obedience, sled racing and herding. Nine patch corners were connected with bands of blue and white and the entire quilt had a dog paw border. The blue and white colors reflected the sky and snow of their arctic beginnings. The quilt was designed by Peggy Gaffney.
